Administration Joomla! 5.x • inclusion language ini files for smart search in packs?

I just finished a fierce quarrel yesterday with a client about the functioning of smart search on his site. It seemed that his potential clients were furious about the way smart search works (compared to his old 2.5 site, it drove them crazy so he was too. He demanded me to stop further development and put everything off line and on hold until further notice.

The plan was to develop the site into a multilingual site with « simple search options, not the « did you mean… » or « the advanced search suggestions » like it was in « the good old days » without the bull…

So I tried today if I could make it as simple as can be by testing/deactivating most of the available options.

Sorry developers for your hard work.
I’ll wait a while until the client cools down to find out if the stripped out solution is good enough, because to me it resembles more to the « old search » now.

In the mean time I found out (on another site) that smart search does not « play nice»with css on big H1 titles like for instance :

background: linear-gradient(to left, deeppink 0%, crimson 100%);
background-clip: border-box;
background-clip: border-box;
-webkit-background-clip: text;
-webkit-text-fill-color: transparent;
font-weight: normal;
padding-top: 20px;
border-top: 1px solid red;
}
But that’s another story.

I don’t yet understand every nook and cranny of the smart search configuration yet but I already grasp that for « automatically » translating the advanced parameters list in another language »I’ll have to work best with overrides. Since smart search is part of the core, shouldn’t the corresponding ini files be included in each language pack?

Have a nice day, Kompas
